The Seed is Planted
Oil on Board, 11" x 14"

New Work

I have been working on a series called Circles and Seeds for the last six months. Several years ago, I painted an abstract oil on canvas called the "Seed is Planted". This year the crop is coming in. So far, I have painted about eight images in the series. Here are a few of them. I have been interested in symbols for a long time. These explore the imagery of the circle. They represent a sense of fullness and completion. The colors are bright and cheerful with lots of metallics- gold, copper, graphite. I am thoroughly enjoying this direction toward a pure abstract art.

My other recent work is about Hawaiian petroglyphs. These are also painted on canvas with metallics and bright colors. They are based on the Hawaiian rock carvings that I have spent the last fifteen years making as graphic prints.
